Overgrowth Syndromes: A New Understanding and the Role of the Radiologist

In this presentation, Dr. Reid breaks down the complex topic of the PIK3CA related overgrowth spectrum (PROS) into four groups in order to better understand their phenotype and genotype/genetic mutations. These include RASA1(Parkes Weber S.); PIK3CA (Klippel Trenaunay S., CLOVES, and FAVA); AKT1(Proteus S.); and PTEN (PTHS).  This organized and case- based approach facilitates accurate imaging diagnosis that will prompt appropriate pharmacological therapies to block steps in the pathway that affect growth, angiogenesis and apoptosis.
